Record Your First Voice Post

Your first voice post on Proofd is allowed to be rough.

Thirty seconds. One unfinished thought: "I just got out of a meeting and something felt off, and I'm not sure why yet." It can trail off mid-sentence. That's not the format failing. That's the format working.

Stop Waiting for Something Worth Saying

Every professional platform trained us to perform: polish the take, earn the attention, sound like you've got it figured out. So we wait until a thought is finished — and by then it's gone.

A voice post has no such requirement. Press record, say something true, stop. No edit button, no second draft. The half-formed opinion and the observation you can't quite articulate yet are exactly the raw material Proofd is built for. It fills the gaps and smooths the edges. Your only job is to capture something real.

What a Good First Post Sounds Like

  • A founder after a board meeting: "One partner said our retention looks like a leaky bucket. I don't think she's wrong. I want to sit with that."
  • A consultant after a client call: "They asked for better reporting, but what they need is a clearer decision framework. I didn't push back hard enough."
  • An engineer after a late fix: "The root cause is something we assumed away six months ago. It'll bite us again. I need to write this up."

None are polished. All are worth capturing.

Why Speaking Beats Typing

Typing is editing — deleting, reconsidering, choosing what to leave in. Voice isn't. You just talk, and the texture of your actual thinking comes through: the uncertainty, the conviction, the thing you noticed before you had a name for it. Your network doesn't want the polished version. They want what you actually think.

So press record. Say whatever's true. Thirty seconds is plenty. You'll feel slightly exposed, and then you'll feel free.

That's when Proofd starts working.
